Laura L. Leatherwood, Pen & Ink Magic

Learning never ends when you begin a business of your own. Along with a formal education in fine art and the graphic arts, I continued educating myself with digital design books along with countless books in mixed media, watercolor, and painting.

I spend many hours fine tuning my skills with online webinars/tutorials in digital media, photography, and design. This allows my skills to always be current with the latest software, media, and art techniques.

I believe creativity is always a journey of exploring new artistic expression. – Laura L. Leatherwood

I have always been an artist who has worn many hats. I have always enjoyed taking on new challenges and fitting together new puzzles. Therefore, I have not limited my business to just one niche. Instead, I have offered fine art, digital art, graphic arts, and photography.

I like to think of myself as a mixed media artist in a modern sense.  I prefer to join traditional art mediums with the current digital age.  Therefore, I can combine elements of each medium in my designs.

Without dreamers, we have no hope. They negotiate a path while doers are reactive. – Laura L. Leatherwood

While I was in junior college, I was honored with being selected for the gallery opening piece. It was called “Fusion” and was the main gallery exhibit. The work was a painted on rolled canvas, instead of traditional stretched canvas. After this exhibit, I continued to show work in student galleries at Mount San Antonio College, and later at California State University, Fullerton. Years later, I entered an online design contest for the business called The Republic of Tea. I earned second place in the 2014 Darjeeling Tea Tin Design Contest. Since then, I earned numerous awards on a print on demand website. I have only listed a few of the top awards below.
